"____________ photography"
jonasmyname:
I see that so often these days from people my age (high schoolers).
It’s funny because they probably dont know much about photography yet they put watermarks or give themselves a TM name like “____________ photography”
There is a difference between knowing how to take a picture on AUTO
and knowing how to use aperture priority.
I don’t even give myself a fancy watermark or TM

i only know a few people that actually know photography and i think are experienced enough to wear a watermark
Eh, correction. I think think it should be “There’s a difference between knowing how to take a picture on AUTO than people knowing how to take a picture on MANUAL.” Aperture Priority still uses an automatic element from the camera, I’d consider it the next level from AUTO. It’s just not the Manual mode either, you gotta let go of the Automatic-White Balance and the Automatic ISO shit too. Complete Manual is when you know your photography straight. Well, except Auto-Focus, gotta keep that for most situations, haha.
Photography isn’t just about settings though. Settings just make a picture look good color and quality wise. A beautiful photo incorporates good composition, creativity, style, emotion, and feeling (depending on the type of picture).
Nowadays everyone’s pictures look the same because they’re all coming from an overpriced camera with all the same automatic settings. What separates the good photographers from the average are those key things: The ability to create good composition, creativity, style, emotion, and feeling.
Most great photographers can take amazing pictures without even post processing it. Any great graphic designer can make almost any photo look amazing, but a great photographer can produce a beautiful photo without it even being touched.
Settings only help your photography. But just because you know your settings doesn’t mean you’re a great photographer, it takes way more than that.
Just my 2 cheerios.
